Learn More About Parent + Me Painting Classes - LAB Art Studio

Updated: May 27, 2022

Joining our Parent + Me Painting classes is a great way to introduce classroom setting and the joy of art making to your toddler.

Kind reminder these classes are not just for the child, but also for you (whether you're a parent, grandparent, or guardian) to create too! Kids will not only get to learn from our instructors but also from you too. When they see you draw and paint along, they’ll also want to join in the fun. We’ve seen how independent some of our toddlers have become, and before you know it, it will be time for them to graduate to a 'drop-off' class!

Here are some of our great Parent + Me Painting rules to follow to ensure we all have a fun time learning together:

1. Show up on time and don’t miss out on all the fun.

It’s important for your child to know the whole routine from start to finish. We keep the class routine pretty constant from free drawing, to getting ready for our painting, collaging and or clay. Then we clean, and end the class with review and stickers... This way, the more your child knows the routine, the more comfortable they get, and the more excited they are to be in class. Kids love it when they know what's next!

2. Everyone’s participation is important.

It’s totally fine to want to record videos and take photos of your kids during the lesson, but don’t forget to be present! By working together, your child gets to learn how to take turns, be patient, and share with you. Sometimes your child may show independence and that’s great! Let’s remember to stay encouraging and cheer on throughout all the process.

3. Feel free to ask your instructor any questions about the art project you're working on!

It's great to remind your kids about what we're learning in the month, what we did before, and what to look forward to. Read about our monthly themes in our blog, and look up some art history with your kid(s) after class!
